Activities at Twin Lakes

Twin Lakes is a 22-acre recreational facility for swimming, fishing, and hiking that operates on a reservation-only basis. Great for cookouts, birthday parties, family gatherings, and special events.

SCLT provides Free Swimming Lessons for children from age 6 months to 18 years and holds Open Swim hours in the summer. Check the same calendar as above for open swim hours and swim lesson schedules from June through August.

Many thanks to the Saluda Community Fund at the Polk County Community Foundation for supporting this extraordinary community benefit.

Wilkes Twin Lakes History

Twin Lakes was established in the 1950s by H. P. Pace and his son Junior for community fishing. In 1958, the Wilkes family bought the 22-acre property. They continued to use the lower lake for fishing but dedicated the upper lake to recreational use. Junior Pace managed the property until the late 90s, after which the Wilkes family took over maintenance and reservation duties.

As the remaining Wilkes family members aged, they chose to pass Twin Lakes to the Saluda Community Land Trust to ensure it would continue serving the community as it always has.

The work of Saluda Community Land Trust is made possible through the generous donations of our community partners, volunteers, and private donors. Donate today, so that we may continue to serve Saluda through connecting people, land, and community.
