Robinson Community Garden

The Robinson Community Garden was one of the first projects launched by the Saluda Community Land Trust (SCLT). Established in 2008 after a long search for an accessible location, the garden found its home thanks to Saluda locals Pat and Marcus Robinson. Pat and Marcus made the vacant land once farmed by their grandmother at the corner of Poplar and Henderson Streets available to SCLT. Marcus Robinson makes the property available to SCLT for lease at a nominal rate, allowing the legacy of his grandmother and the land she cultivated to continue.

Today, the garden includes 18 large plots and 6 half plots. The garden uses a sustainable water system that collects and stores rainwater, which is then pumped to each plot. The produce grown by gardeners is often donated to the Saluda Pop-Up Pantry and shared with neighbors, helping strengthen the community through fresh, locally grown food.

The Robinson Community Garden is an amenity for the City of Saluda, providing beauty, education, and community connection. Children from Saluda Elementary School visit the garden to learn about plants, pollinators, and sustainable gardening practices. Visitors to Saluda also stop by to admire the flourishing crops and experience firsthand the spirit of cooperation and care that makes the garden thrive
